For those who don't know me, I am an art director and graphic designer living in Brooklyn. Two years ago, I decided to try something different and just like that, I threw out all of the meat and dairy products in my apartment and went pure vegetarian; cold turkey (no pun intended). I was initially just hoping to lose some weight (which I did, quickly and easily) but beyond that, I knew in my heart that this was the right way for me to be.
And then I thought, Now what?
I soon found that many of the pure vegetarian (vegan) products on the market taste awful. I will never forget my first Tofurky Thanksgiving dinner. It tasted terrible! I knew there had to be better, and so I set out experimenting, tasting, learning and experimenting some more until I came up with some staples for my personal diet that I'm in love with. But I'm still experimenting — going farther — and Kitchen La Bohème will be a place for me to share my pure veg culinary secrets, new recipes and menus I develop, and new products and worthwhile restaurants I discover along the way.
I hope you'll follow along with me as I continue experimenting, discovering, and sharing with you what vegan food really looks like; and I hope that even the most hard-core meat lovers will give at least one recipe a try — even if it's just dessert.
