All Instagram/Facebook quips aside, there’s a lot to be said for the little photography app that’s taken the world by storm. Long Saturdays spent wandering the city with a camera in-hand are my favorite kind of Saturdays. Thanks to my iPhone and Instagram—plus a few other handy photography apps for image editing right on the iPhone—it’s not always necessary to lug along my dSLR or even a point-and-shoot to get some pretty cool shots.

I spent the day wandering around my ‘hood with nothing but my keys and an iPhone, and the images above—iPhone-edited and Instagrammed—are what I returned with. I've been using Instagram for quite some time now, and barring a completely terrible overhaul, I don't see the recent Facebook purchase as a deterrent for me... I'll keep on using it!

So far that’s how I’ve spent my holiday weekend… Save for the batch of Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip cookies I baked as a poolside BBQ take-along for tomorrow. If you would like to make some of your own, follow the recipe here with these tweaks: Instead of 3/4 cup raisins, use 1/2 cup raisins and 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, and omit the frosting.

Have a great Memorial Day, and I’ll catch up with all of you again soon! Want to connect with me on Instagram? Click here!
