Asian-inspired Pan-fried Tofu Sandwiches



It may strike fear into the hearts of many, but I'm ready to bestow a little love on one of the classically best Pure Veg meat substitutes East or West: tofu. It's time you learned how to make it the right way. Improperly seasoned tofu or tofu cooked the wrong way is DOA: a sad, floppy, tasteless mess. When seasoned to the max and cooked with some heart, however, tofu is a revelation. I'm serious about ridding the world of bad tofu, so see below for a bursting-with-flavor, can't-make-it-wrong tofu recipe that can be used in a multitude of dishes—not just in a sandwich.

Pan-frying it gives the tofu a golden crust on the outside, leaving a soft, silky bite on the inside; and simmering it in the dark, sweet soy sauce brings the flavor up to 11.
